ApplyBoard Celebrates International Education Week 2022

An international education week 2022 banner image about celebrating the bold during international education week, with the word bold featured in multiple colours.

During International Education Week 2022, ApplyBoard paused to reflect on the past, look ahead to the future, and acknowledge the people who make international education possible.

For International Education Week this year, ApplyBoard is celebrating the bold. The boundary breakers. The doers. The makers. The innovators. The forward-thinkers. The early adopters. The risk-takers. The go-getters. Here’s to international students everywhere

In this article, we’ll recap how we celebrated this week—from launching our annual Trends Report to paying homage to our partners around the world, and everything in between.

A New Era of Student Choice Begins

To kick off International Education Week, the hardworking ApplyInsights team launched their much-anticipated yearly Trends Report on Monday morning.

If you haven’t seen it yet, read the report here: A New Era of Student Choice Begins: Top Trends in International Education for 2023 and Beyond

In the current era of intense competition and international student choice, the Trends Report will help guide institutions, recruitment professionals, and governments in planning their future-facing international recruitment strategies.

Those who choose to study abroad are top talent, and they’re in high demand. International students are future leaders seeking the best global opportunities available. With more competition than ever, it’s up to destination markets and institutions to provide those opportunities and reach the right students at the right time.

Preparing for the future requires investing in international students now.

Among other trends, the report outlines:

  • When choosing where to study, international students are most concerned about the cost of studying, followed by post-graduation work opportunities and cost of living.
  • Students are more interested than ever in health and science, positioning them well to fill labour gaps in those sectors.
  • English-speaking destination countries will face increased competition from non-Anglophone destination markets for international students.

The Inner Strength of International Students

In Tuesday’s blog, we featured the success story of Arabelle, an international student, business professional, and soon-to-be Humber College graduate whose application to study in Canada was revolutionized by using ApplyBoard.

Check out Arabelle’s incredible story here!

As Arabelle’s story reminds us, international students are the definition of strength: brave, determined, and resilient. These students make difficult decisions and embrace self-improvement at every step. They don’t shy away from challenge; in fact, they run toward it! They dig deep to find their innermost confidence and fortitude.

ApplyBoard is proud to serve students like Arabelle, and to play a part in helping them achieve their study abroad dreams.

The Value of Choosing Challenge

On Wednesday, we published an article helping potential international students answer a simple (but crucial) question: why study abroad?

Read it for yourself: here are the 5 best reasons to study abroad.

Studying in a new country—surrounded by strangers who speak a different language—is the ultimate challenge. By studying abroad, international students are rewarded by learning adaptability, confidence, independence, and initiative. And that’s in addition to the specific skills and knowledge they learn from their courses, studying at institutions that offer world-class education.

By choosing challenge, international students build themselves up in an incredible myriad of ways.

It takes a team to guide and support these students. We recognize the many contributions made by our dedicated Recruitment Partners and Partner Schools. They, too, find their success by taking risks and challenging themselves. We see it every day, and we respect and appreciate all our partners for it.

For even more great reasons to study abroad, look back at our post from International Education Week last year: here are Four Benefits of Studying Abroad

Admiring the Dreamers

With the week quickly coming to a close, yesterday we thanked all of the amazing people who make international education possible:

Everyone in the international education landscape understands the dream. From industry professionals and top institutions to recruitment advisors and the students themselves, supporting the study abroad journey means believing in the study abroad dream

Here’s to the dreamers who push for a bolder, more diverse, more equitable future. Here’s to working together and believing in one another.

Thank you all!
