About Integrated Master of Engineering - Electrical Engineering (Industrial Year in Year 3) (H62B)
Electrical engineers are responsible for the design and development of new technologies aimed at generating and processing power. The equipment they create is utilized in the distribution of electrical energy, including the implementation of 'Smart Grid' technologies for renewable energy sources. Additionally, their work supports various manufacturing industries.
The advancements in electrical engineering technologies have now made it possible to create hybrid and electric vehicles, trains, ships, and even aircraft.
The course offered provides students with specialized electrical knowledge and skills that contribute to a more sustainable future. Through engaging in lab-based projects and working both individually and in small teams, students will acquire essential problem-solving and design skills.
During the third year of the program, students will have the opportunity to gain industry experience. They can either apply for placements available to students on their course or arrange their own placement with a suitable company. Throughout the industrial year, students will remain fully registered with the University and will have regular meetings with their tutor.
By combining their numerical, analytical, and technical knowledge, students will develop the confidence to create engineering solutions that meet industry demands.
Initially, all undergraduate students in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering follow a common program of study. However, they have the flexibility to switch to a different plan until the end of their third semester in year two. Additionally, students have the option to include or exclude a year abroad or a year in industry after joining the course. By the third year, students can choose to specialize in specific topics that align with their interests and career aspirations.
If a student receives an offer at the MEng level, it will also include a contextual offer for the BEng version of the course. This means that if the student does not meet the required results to fulfill the MEng offer but would have met the requirements for the BEng version of their chosen course, they will automatically be offered a place in the BEng version.
