About Integrated Master of Engineering - Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Industrial Year in Year 4) (H60C)

Electrical and electronic engineers are responsible for designing, developing, testing, and overseeing new technologies. Student focus on generating and processing power, as well as creating various products such as drones, electric cars, smartphones, sat navs, and hospital systems.

The course offered provides the necessary engineering expertise for a career in engineering or other related professions. Through engaging in lab-based projects and collaborative work, students will utilize their numerical, analytical, and technical knowledge to effectively solve problems in different scenarios.

During the fourth year of study, students will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in the industry. They can either apply for available placements specifically tailored for their course or arrange their own placement with a suitable company. Throughout the industrial year, students will remain fully registered with the university and have regular meetings with their placement tutor.

Initially, all undergraduate students in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering follow a common program of study. However, up until the end of the third semester in the second year, they have the flexibility to switch to a different plan. Additionally, students have the option to include or exclude a year abroad or a year in industry after joining the course. By the third year, students can choose to specialize in the areas that align with their interests and career goals.

If an offer is made at the MEng level, it will also include a contextual offer for the BEng version of the course. This means that if a student fails to meet the requirements for the MEng offer but would have met the requirements for the BEng version, they will automatically be offered a place in the BEng version of their chosen course.
