About Integrated Master of Engineering - Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Industrial Year in Year 3) (H60B)

Electrical and electronic engineers are responsible for designing, developing, testing, and overseeing new technologies. These technologies can range from power generation and processing to the creation of drones, electric cars, and various electronic devices like smartphones, sat navs, and hospital systems.

The course offered provides the necessary engineering expertise for a career in engineering or other related professions. Through engaging in lab-based projects, students will have the opportunity to work individually and in small teams, utilizing their numerical, analytical, and technical knowledge to effectively problem solve in different scenarios.

During the third year, students will have the chance to gain industry experience. They can either apply for placements that are available specifically for students on their course or arrange their own placement with a suitable company. Throughout the industrial year, students will remain fully registered with the university and will have regular meetings with their placement tutor.

Initially, all undergraduate students in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering follow a common program of study. However, they have the flexibility to switch to a different plan until the end of their third semester in year two. Additionally, students have the option to include or exclude a year abroad or a year in industry after joining the course. By the third year, students can choose to specialize in the areas that align with their interests and career goals.

If a student is offered a place at the MEng level, they will also receive a contextual offer for the BEng version of the course. This means that if they do not meet the required results to fulfill their MEng offer, but would have met the requirements for the BEng version of their chosen course, they will automatically be offered a place in the BEng version.
