About Master of Arts (Honours) - Russian Studies and English Language (QR37)

Approximately 150 million individuals worldwide speak Russian. Russian serves as the official language in four countries and is widely comprehended throughout Eastern Europe. In the past three decades, there has been an unprecedented level of transnational mobility for the language. This program presents an opportunity to delve into the cultural aspects of Russian while also exploring the evolution of the English language over time.

The combination of linguistic and cultural studies showcases qualities such as effective communication, problem-solving abilities, and a willingness to embrace diverse cultures and novel concepts – attributes highly valued by employers as intercultural competence.

By enrolling in our Russian language program, students will not only acquire language skills but also gain insights into Russian literature, culture, and the historical and political contexts of Russia.

The English language boasts a well-documented history spanning over 1,000 years. Its transformations can be traced through various written materials, ranging from medieval manuscripts to text messages, and more recently, through recorded spoken English.
