About Master of Arts (Honours) - Chinese and Russian Studies (BR37)

The Master of Arts Chinese and Russian Studies program enables individuals to study the languages, literatures, and cultures of two of the world's largest countries, both of which play significant roles in contemporary global politics.

Edinburgh University is the sole institution in Scotland that offers both single and joint honors undergraduate programs in Chinese. Specializing in teaching students with little or no prior knowledge of the language, the university also accommodates those who already have some experience in studying Chinese.

Students who choose to study with Edinburgh University will develop advanced competency in the Chinese language and gain specialized knowledge on mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and associated diasporas in pre-modern, modern, and contemporary contexts. The courses offered explore various subjects such as history, literature, culture, politics, and international relations.

Similarly, students will also acquire advanced proficiency in the Russian language while studying Russian literature and culture, and developing an understanding of political and historical contexts. A professional tone is maintained throughout the description of the program.
