Program Description
Human Services Foundation is a one-year certificate program that provides a broad education in understanding human behaviour. Students will learn strong interpersonal skills, theoretical models of behaviour, client service strategies, and written and verbal communication skills. Graduates of this program will be prepared to advance or supplement their education.
As a student in the human services courses, they will enjoy a combination of classwork, volunteer community field experience, and guest presentations from human services workers so that they can have an up-close view into this diverse and rewarding field. With their human services certificate and all of this exposure, students can be sure that they will be able to find the career that is right for them.
The Human Services Foundation program provides a broad education in understanding human behaviour and serves as a foundation for preparing a student to enter specific people helping with career programs. Basic academic coursework relevant to human services and volunteer experience in a human services setting combine to provide a comprehensive introduction to the field of helping.
