Master of Arts (Honours) - German and English Language (QR32)

German is spoken by more people as their native language than any other in Europe, and it is considered the third most popular foreign language studied worldwide. The program being offered provides individuals with the opportunity to delve into the study of German within its cultural context, while also exploring the evolution of the English language over time.

By combining the linguistic and cultural aspects of language study, participants are able to showcase their abilities as effective communicators, adaptable problem solvers, and individuals who are open to embracing different cultures and new ideas – qualities highly valued by employers as intercultural competence.

The program includes intensive language training, which includes a year abroad, enabling students to acquire professional skills in various aspects of the German language, such as writing, speaking, presenting, and translating.

Throughout the course of study, individuals will develop their knowledge and understanding of key areas, including the principles of theoretical linguistics, the process of language acquisition, the regional and social variations within language, with a particular focus on the English language, as well as various methods of communication.
