Students who ready to save lives, help the community and support people in crisis being a paramedic is challenging, rewarding and vital to the healthcare system. Students will be assessing and managing patients, providing them and their significant others with physical, emotional, and mental support, and reducing strain on hospital resources through on-the-spot treatment.
La Trobe's Bachelor of Paramedic Practice (Honours) gives students the knowledge and skills to launch a career in this important field of health. They'll develop a strong foundation in biosciences and paramedic practice for trauma, respiratory, cardiac, pediatric and obstetric management.
Students will kickstart their career with first-hand paramedic experience, and build the experience and resilience to tackle this exciting career with work-based learning opportunities in hospitals, community settings and with Ambulance Victoria. Students can also practice in the Paramedicine Practical Laboratory equipped with industry-standard medical equipment and an outdoor emergency simulation space.
As a graduate, people will be ready to apply their practical skills when they're needed most. The course also offers a research honours pathway, which can facilitate direct entry into postgraduate studies.
