Sociology is the study of the social world, including how people are shaped by and shape society. Students will study sociology to better understand contemporary social issues and how to change communities for the better. They will learn to use sociological theory and research methods to tackle problems facing individual health, government policy, law, education and more. Their ability to make data-driven decisions will be an asset to many careers in the private and social sectors.
Sociology students can choose to take advanced methods courses in their upper years and add an Applied Social Research Specialization to their honours Sociology degree. This will prepare them to conduct research related to human and societal behavior.

For students who complete their degree in an Arts, Economics, Science or Music program, Wilfrid Laurier University's Management option will provide them with an understanding of the core principles of the business world, including accounting, marketing, human resources, operations, policy, and finance.
Co-op is a way to integrate what students are learning in the classroom with practical experience in their field of study. They will build their resume, earn money, develop their network, and graduate with work experience.
