About Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Psychology and Women's and Gender Studies (NKJ)

Program Description

The Psychology and Women’s and Gender Studies combined program is offered jointly through the Department of Psychology and Department of Women’s Studies to give students an opportunity to explore topics from both areas.

The University of Windsor's three-year Psychology program provides a broad base of knowledge concerning many aspects of human behaviour and experience. The Honours Psychology program includes advanced courses in various areas of psychology and prepares students to apply for non-psychology professional degrees. The Honours Psychology with Thesis program provides advanced courses in psychology research methods and statistics and prepares students to apply for MA and PhD degrees in psychology.

In this program students will explore how gender, race and sexualities shape their daily life and the relationships they foster. Students will learn from world-renowned leaders in the areas of equity, diversity and inclusion, and sexual assault resistance education.

Students will learn:
  • Explore the role of gender and other aspects of human diversity in shaping society, culture, and the lived experience of individuals
  • Examine barriers to equality and construct strategies for the promotion of social justice for all Canadians
  • Identify the ways in which one’s own values, experiences, and beliefs shape interactions with others in personal and professional contexts
  • Develop strategies that promote collaboration and consensus building across diversity
  • Communicate complex ideas in a manner accessible to a broad range of audiences
