About Integrated Master of Engineering - Electronic Engineering (Industrial Year in Year 4) (H61C)

Electronic engineers are responsible for designing, developing, testing, and overseeing the creation of various electronic devices and systems, ranging from drones and electric cars to smartphones, sat navs, and hospital equipment. The course offered by the institution provides students with numerous opportunities to enhance their understanding of electronics. Through lab-based projects, students work both individually and in small teams, honing their project management skills and utilizing their technical knowledge to solve problems in different scenarios.

During the fourth year of the course, students are required to undertake an industrial placement. They have the option to apply for placements available specifically for students on their course or arrange their own placement with a suitable company. Throughout the industrial year, students remain fully registered with the University and have regular meetings with their tutor.

Given the ever-evolving nature of electronics technology, graduates from this course will possess the confidence and skills necessary to create, comprehend, and advance electronic systems of the future. The course equips students with the engineering expertise required for a career in engineering or various other professions.

All undergraduate students in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering initially follow a common program of study, allowing them the flexibility to switch to a different plan until the end of their third semester in the second year. Additionally, students have the option to incorporate a year abroad or a year in industry after joining the course. By the third year, students can choose to specialize in the areas that align with their interests and career aspirations.

For those who receive an offer at the MEng level, a contextual offer for the BEng version of the course is also included. This means that if a student fails to meet the requirements for the MEng offer but would have met the requirements for the BEng version of their chosen course, they will automatically be offered a place on the BEng version.
