A Masters by Research in Business Analytics offers an internationally recognised degree that signifies a high level of achievement in research. It develops extensive subject expertise and independent research skills, honed over an extended period depending on the level of the award.
As part of the research degree, students will:
- Undertake a substantial, original research project for the duration of the degree, under the supervision and guidance of two or more academic members of staff.
- Receive guidance from their supervisory team, both in selecting a research topic and in conducting the research.
- Attend postgraduate seminar series to develop subject-specific knowledge and research skills relevant to their field.
- Present their work at major conferences and publish in refereed research journals.
The research degree is assessed solely on the final, written thesis, which must be "defended" in a viva.
A Masters by Research is not a taught course. Students are expected to initiate their own learning and development by seeking out opportunities provided by the University.
The programme may be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis. The University endeavours to provide a fully supportive research and learning environment, with flexible supervision.
Supervisors will possess both subject expertise and experience in supervising Masters by Research students. They will assist and support students throughout the programme, enhancing the research experience and helping them make the most of their learning journey.
