The Masters in Psychology at the University of Hertfordshire is designed primarily for individuals with degrees in non-psychology subjects who wish to obtain the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) of the British Psychological Society. Upon successful completion of the course, students will:
- Demonstrate sufficient knowledge of psychological theories and literature to be eligible for the GBC of the British Psychological Society;
- Develop a more detailed understanding of the literature, theories, and issues relevant to their career ambitions;
- Be capable of designing, conducting, and evaluating psychological research using various methodologies, including the ability to undertake an advanced research project;
- Conduct ethically sensitive research.
Students enrolled in the MSc programme will study core modules covering fundamental principles of developmental, social, cognitive, and biological psychology. These are presented within the contexts of historical issues in psychology, research methods, and statistical analysis.
The MSc programme offers flexibility for students to tailor their studies to particular interests or career goals. In addition to core modules, master's students are required to study two additional modules selected from the following options (subject to availability):

- Clinical Psychology
- Occupational Psychology
- Educational Psychology
- Cognitive Neuropsychology
