Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) - English Literature with Creative Writing with a Placement Year

At UEA, We believe good readers make good writers, which is why school integrate English Literature and Creative Writing in this innovative course.

Student will join a vibrant community of writers and thinkers, learning from experienced writers and passionate teachers to refine your language skills for storytelling. Student will explore literatures globally, discovering how writers have expanded literary possibilities and expressed the human experience. This will enhance their abilities as a discerning reader and writer.

In the first two years, student will spend a third of their time on Creative Writing and two-thirds on English Literature. In the third year, they can choose to focus more on Creative Writing or Literature, developing a balance that suits them . Student creative and literary training will complement each other as they explore various genres, from creative non-fiction to podcasting and apocalyptic fiction.

Their placement’s specific field will depend on the own interests, and they will do some preparatory sessions to help to narrow down what they want to get out of the placement. English Literature with Creative Writing graduates go into a wide range of sectors, and so placements can be done in fields such as heritage, business, the public sector, creative industries and many more. School main requirement in this area is that the tasks can be complete in the placement meet learning objectives and have the complexity to nurture skills which will take them through the final year and beyond.
