About Master of Arts (Honours) - Scottish Literature and History (QVJ1)

Through the critical reading of texts of all kinds, The University of Edinburgh joint honors program in Scottish Literature and History helps students understand the world in which university live now, while shedding light on the past.

Studying a combination of literature and history shows an openness to ideas and perspectives other than students own, an essential attribute in many careers and a global marketplace.

The University of Edinburgh program aims to develop students critical, analytic, linguistic and creative skills by engaging with a broad range of texts and a variety of approaches to reading.

Students will explore the cultural contexts of writing in English from all over the world, from the late Middle Ages to the present, specializing in Scottish Literature as they move through their literary study.

The Edinburgh experience is distinctive for its range of historical themes, chronological periods and geographical areas. Students can choose from courses covering:
  • The early Middle Ages to the most recent past
