Master of Arts (Honours) - History of Art and Scottish Literature (VQ35)

The course History of Art introduces students to art from various periods and world cultures. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the purpose and intended audience of different artworks, as well as their placement within the broader visual and material culture. Additionally, they will explore the meanings behind artworks and visual culture, along with the ongoing interpretations of these works.

On the other hand, the study of Scottish Literature aims to enhance students critical, analytic, linguistic, and creative skills. Through this course, students will engage with a wide range of texts and explore different approaches to reading. They will also develop an understanding of the cultural contexts surrounding major periods in Scottish literature, spanning from the late middle-ages to the present.
