2-Term Pathway - Pre-Master's in Social Sciences and Law - Continue to Master of Arts - Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies

This program will prepare students for entry to a postgraduate degree in a wide range of subjects at Lancaster University, including law, design and a world top 10 linguistics program (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023).

This programme is designed to critically examine the theoretical and methodological issues surrounding the dynamics of peace and conflict in the contemporary world. Students will have the opportunity to engage with the work of peace and conflict studies scholars, at both conceptual and empirical levels, and to draw on evidence from a range of recent armed conflicts.

Through the programme the aim is to address techniques in conflict resolution, such as mediation, in order to help students deepen their understanding, and enable them to develop skills in conflict analysis. Students are encouraged to use optional modules from Politics to support the core programme.

The programme culminates in the writing of a 20,000-word dissertation in a subject area of students own choosing that has been agreed together with their academic supervisor.
