2-Term Pathway - Pre-Master's in Social Sciences and Law - Continue to Master of Arts - Conflict, Development and Security

This program will prepare students for entry to a postgraduate degree in a wide range of subjects at Lancaster University, including law, design and a world top 10 linguistics program (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023).

This MA programme could be particularly relevant if one is considering employment in the field of humanitarian assistance and post-conflict reconstruction. It could also be relevant if one is a practitioner wishing to study the politics of aid. This programme seeks to build on critical policy research and consultancy that has been completed for a wide range of international organisations.

Through this programme the aim is to analyse the increasing overlap between ‘development’ and ‘security’ and to explore the significance of globalisation for the emergence of internal, regionalised and networked forms of conflict and instability.

It is hoped that through this analysis students will broaden their understanding of the present crisis in global security, as they go on to study the recent and current responses in humanitarian, developmental and security terms, particularly the links between aid and politics.
