La Trobe University accredited Bachelor of Education offers students the best path to a rewarding career in teaching. Carefully designed by expert teachers and leaders in the learning sciences, the Bachelor of Education will give them the skills, experience and confidence to make a difference from their first day as a qualified teacher.
Students can take their time and find out what area of teaching they'd like to specialize in. They won't have to decide what they teach – secondary, primary, or early childhood and primary – until the end of their first year. Then, they'll dive deep into their area of specialization and develop unique and comprehensive skills.
Students will seamlessly integrate theory and practice through a careful blend of learning experiences. They'll learn the most up-to-date and proven approaches to teaching, then put them into practice. They'll spend at least 80 days in schools and education centers, learning how to manage classrooms, design class plans and guide students.
Students will learn from currently practicing teachers and get valuable knowledge that no textbook (or YouTube video) can give them. They will study in a supportive learning environment, mentored by La Trobe University experienced and dedicated teaching staff. Students will also learn from leading researchers who are changing the way people learn to read.
Students will be taught to be a strong, independent learner and develop their identity as a teacher. At La Trobe University, students will gain a thorough understanding of the important ethical and technical requirements for being a teacher. They'll graduate classroom ready, equipped to become the best teacher they can be.
