In La Trobe University's Bachelor of Laws (Honours), students will develop the knowledge and expertise to establish themselves as a forward-thinking legal professional. They will combine outstanding intellectual and skills-based legal training with a progressive approach to law, preparing them for a rewarding career.
Students will explore the principles of key areas of legal practice. They can tailor their degree to their career aspirations with a diverse range of electives. Students will study how legal practice shapes the most pressing challenges of the time, including in areas such as environmental law, international law, intellectual property law, and cyber law and policy.
As students study, they will build their talents in advocacy, negotiation and dispute resolution, so they will be ready to apply them in both legal and non-legal settings. Students will also have opportunities to test their skills in competitions.
Students will learn from legal experts in La Trobe University's Law School and hone their skills in critical thinking, research, writing and teamwork. Then they will put their knowledge into practice with opportunities for real-world placement experiences – from working in environments including community legal centers, law firms and government agencies to building mentor relationships with judges, magistrates and coroners.
