La Trobe University's Bachelor of Outdoor and Sustainability Education takes students beyond the classroom. They get hands-on outdoor experience and build a deeper understanding of sustainability and environmental education. They will enjoy opportunities to build and enrich their outdoor adventuring skills while they explore nature.
Graduates will also be ready to help foster respect and appreciation for the world around them. The course helps them examine the social and scientific aspects of sustainability, including Indigenous understandings of environment, and learn how to manage and teach outdoor education programs.
Students will learn:
- Natural environment knowledge and sustainability- Learn about Australia's diverse range of native flora and fauna and the complex relationship with it.
- Educational skills- Explore how to successfully create and deliver educational experiences about sustainability and the natural environment.
- Outdoor adventure guiding- Explore the outdoors and build skills in leading groups on adventure experiences.
- Outdoor safety and risk management- Discover how to safely plan for leading groups of people in natural environments.
- Leadership, teamwork, and communication- Learn by experience as they develop strong transferable skills that are applicable in any career.
