International Year One - Undergraduate Pathway - General (1-Semester Pathway) Transfer to Bachelor of Science in Education - Special Education - Specialist in Learning and Behavior

International Year One is a supportive program that allows students to earn credits towards their degree while receiving additional academic, cultural and language support customized for international students.

Upon successful completion of the Pathway program and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next semester of study at Illinois State University.

As the largest specialty program, the Learning and Behavior Specialist prepares students to teach in most public special education classrooms. Specialists in Learning and Behavior instruct children with various learning, emotional, or cognitive disabilities, including orthopedic impairments, autism spectrum disorders, multiple disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, or other health impairments.

Special education teachers are found at all grade levels and work with students who have a range of disabilities, such as visual and hearing impairments, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities. These educators design and modify instruction to accommodate the unique needs of their students.
