International Year One - Undergraduate Pathway - General (1-Semester Pathway) Transfer to Bachelor of Science in Education - Special Education - Specialist in Low Vision and Blindness

International Year One is a supportive program that allows students to earn credits towards their degree while receiving additional academic, cultural and language support customized for international students.

Upon successful completion of the Pathway program and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next semester of study at Illinois State University.

Teachers of children with visual impairments work with learners who are blind or have low vision, ranging from preschool through high school.

There is a significant shortage of teachers in this area, and many students in the Low Vision and Blindness sequence do not experience difficulty in finding a job after graduation.

Special education teachers are present at all grade levels, instructing students with a range of disabilities, including visual and hearing impairments, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities. These educators design and modify instruction to meet the unique needs of their students.
