Why study Theatre at Hartwick?

There is an interest in pursuing a career onstage, backstage, or in front-of-house. A passion exists for performance, design, management, marketing, playwriting, costumes, and makeup.

Here’s what sets Hartwick’s Theatre program apart:

What students will learn:

  • Explore all aspects of performance, prop making, costume, light and set design, or directing, then choose a focus area.  
  • Expand horizons during J Term by studying theatre in England, seeing Broadway shows in New York City, or joining a local theatre company for a community production.  
  • Create and produce an original theatrical production to perform during the Student Showcase.  
  • Collaborate with peers to start a podcast in the production studio.  
  • Showcase writing talent by submitting a play to the regional Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.
