About Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Food Science and Innovation (Placement Year) (DS01)
Students will explore consumer needs, nutrition, food production, new product development, supply-chains, marketing approaches, research and development, and issues of sustainability in food. Students will be equipped with a broad base of practical, theoretical, and technical skills to help address global food challenges.
Students will be taught in dedicated, specialist facilities, and assessed through an innovative combination of theory and real-world practice. Assessment typically includes live industry projects, creating and exhibiting new products, creative portfolios, and consumer research. The program focuses on a small number of topics at any one time, with frequent feedback, to help them manage their learning. Students will learn within a diverse group, including international students and industry professionals.
Food graduates access a variety of exciting, globally-connected roles, from selecting what is sold in supermarkets to creating the next generation of innovative food products. Supported by an integrated placement year in industry, students will be primed for their future graduate career and for progression into roles that include the management of brands, people, projects, and products.
