Program Description
On the Mathematical Modelling degree at Aberystwyth University students will learn how to use mathematical theory to develop predictive models in areas of science, engineering, and physics using mathematical analysis, experiments and quantified models to evaluate hypotheses or analyse real-world problems. At the same time, they will receive a firm grounding in the techniques of collection, classification, organisation, analysis and interpretation of data. Mathematicians and statisticians are highly valued by employers across many job sectors for their logical and analytical thought processes, problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
The first two years of the Mathematical Modelling course will give students a broad introduction to important areas of mathematics, including algebra, calculus, geometry, statistics and mathematical analysis. Students will be able to specialise in the final year and take advantage of expertise by choosing from a wide range of optional modules based on their own interests.
