Our head office is located in Downtown Kitchener, part of Canada’s Silicon Valley.
History meets modern day
Kitchener was called “Berlin” from the early 19th century up until 1916, and while the Downtown is now a bustling centre for events and multicultural cuisine, its German roots are still highly visible. At Kitchener’s City Hall you can attend the Christkindl Market for a weekend in December, and all year round you can experience traditional German dishes and baked goods from a variety of restaurants and shops. At the same time, Kitchener welcomes all new visitors and residents from all corners of the globe, and Victoria Park is often host to many multicultural festivals.
Get where you want to go
Kitchener-Waterloo has many affordable and accessible options for transportation, whether you’re after a cab, an Uber, a city bus, or the new Light Rail Transit (LRT) system. If you’re partial to the outdoors, there are bike lanes and trails that accommodate for city and off-road cyclists. If you’re headed outside the city for the weekend, Charles Street Terminal is nestled conveniently downtown and has Coach and Greyhound buses scheduled to arrive and depart every day of the week.
Whether you’re more geared to city-living or country-living, a bachelor or part of a big family, Kitchener-Waterloo has affordable housing options for you. The average cost of a house is sitting at 480,000 CAD; that’s approximately 150,000 less than the average cost in Toronto and 190,000 less than Vancouver.
The startup lifestyle
Kitchener-Waterloo is an active member in Canada’s Silicon Valley and is recognised as one of the main tech centres in the country. There is a rise in the startup culture creating more and more jobs and with it more and more ideas that will inspire real change in the world we live in. It’s clear we can expect great things from the KW region within this industry in the years to come. What part will you play?
Spending time outdoors
It’s easy to stay active and get outdoors in Kitchener-Waterloo at any time of the year. When the sun is high and the living is easy, you can enjoy a day out in Victoria Park or Waterloo Park, where there is always something going on and endless opportunities to get involved in sports. Whether it’s tossing around a frisbee or setting up a recreational soccer team in a league, the choice is yours. When the temperature dips below zero, you can check out the outdoor winter rinks, or find solace in any of four indoor pools.
