Wilfrid Laurier University Studies program addresses the prominent role visual media play in our experience of the world today. This courses equip students with an understanding of:
- The history of film;
- The key methods of critical analysis and film theory;
- The relationship of film style to its social and industrial contexts; and
- The variety of film genres and national cinemas
The University's program also gives students the opportunity to engage in hands-on production. Students can graduate with a specialization in Film Theory or Film Production as part of their degree.
With three wide-ranging introductory courses, student will have a choice of entry into the field of film studies in their first year. For upper-year students, they offer courses on film genres, theory, film history, national cinemas, and other topics. The range of courses makes Film Studies at Laurier an engaging, richly diverse program both in Canada and internationally; the partnership with the Vancouver Film School makes the program unique in the world.
The fundamentals of business are at the heart of any organization and many careers. While students complete their degree in an Arts, Economics, Science or Music program, the Management Option will provide student with an understanding of the core principles of the business world, including accounting, marketing, human resources, operations, policy, and finance. Students will take courses such as Understanding the Business Environment; Introduction to Financial Accounting; Introduction to Microeconomics or Macroeconomics; and Statistics.
