Program Description

Individuals who go into the Arts, Entertainment, and Communication industry work in cruise lines, convention services, theme parks, concerts, film companies, TV stations, music companies, theatre and numerous other live entertainment venues. Many positions require creativity, adaptability and offer the opportunity for travel. From onstage to behind the scenes, from the recording studio to convention services and multimedia companies, performers, artists and technicians are making satisfying careers in the Central Florida entertainment scene.

By providing students with theoretical and classroom experience which closely parallels on-the-job activities, this program prepares students for careers in the graphics industry. Graphic Design prepares students for employment as layout designers, graphic artists and computer graphic designers focusing on printed material. 

Program Outcomes:
  • Demonstrate entry-level workplace computer competencies using industry-standard print design and production software.
  • Produce a finished digital or printed portfolio that visually demonstrates design, typography and technical abilities.
  • Produce a finished résumé, identity and self-promo piece that visually demonstrates design, typography and technical abilities.
  • Create effective visual communication through the application of design theories and principles to execute design solutions.
  • Perform industry-defined workplace skills in thinking, valuing, acting and communicating.
  • Develop solutions to problems encountered in all phases of the graphic design process.
  • Access industry-related learning resources.
