Sport Management education is one of the country’s fastest growing fields. This industry, due to its wide variety of positions, places unique demands on those involved in its management including skills in such areas as communications, public relations, facility management, marketing, budgeting, and legal aspects specific to sport settings.
The Sports Management program combines the basic principles of a business management curriculum with the unique demands of sport as an enterprise. The interdisciplinary curriculum prepares students through course work, fieldwork, practicums, and internships to be successful professionals in a wide range of career choices within the field of sports management such as intercollegiate sports, professional sports, sport marketing firms, YMCA/YWCA’s, sporting goods sales, fitness clubs, sport arenas, the Olympics, commercial recreational facilities and other sport-related agencies.
