Open to graduates from any discipline, this course offers students the opportunity to hone their practical skills by getting involved in a range of exciting events and projects, building on the University of the West of England expertise and many links with event managers, organisations and venues in south-west England and beyond.
The event industry is one of the youngest and fastest growing industries in the world today, playing a key role in economic development and social wellbeing, and stimulating business and leisure travel - both nationally and internationally.
By studying the MSc Events Management, students will be equipped with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of planning, organising and evaluating the impact of a wide variety of events in a range of different industry sectors. Throughout the course, students will develop the professional and transferable skills they need to make their mark in this exciting and dynamic profession.
Events span a huge range of activities, from highly-publicised international sporting events, concerts, charity fundraisers, corporate promotions, conferences and exhibitions, to performing arts and cultural festivals, national and regional events, and locally-run festivals.
The course brings together the University of the West of England's established and internationally-recognised expertise in event studies, and business and management, to give students a solid grounding in the various concepts and issues, research techniques and examples of good and distinctive practice across this diverse field.
Gaining practical experience of working in events and festivals is a compulsory part of the course, providing students with invaluable industry experience. Being based in Bristol means they will have access to a year-round calendar of festivals and events, and be able to benefit from the many partnerships with event businesses and organisations in the area.
