Engineers constantly ask questions and explore new ideas. They play an important role in developing the world around us - whether that's through the initial design and manufacture of products, or through their development, management or marketing.
A degree in Mechanical Engineering will challenge students and transform the way they learn, giving them the opportunity to use their skills in any sector they wish. Join UWE in using the power of engineering to explore, take risks and find ways to change the world for the better.
UWE's new inclusive, problem-based curriculum will broaden their engineering audience, enabling students from a wider range of backgrounds to pursue a career in engineering. To date, the University of the West of England is the first university in the UK to transform their curriculum alongside constructing a new engineering building.
Students will be taught in the new state-of-the-art School of Engineering, designed to revolutionise the way engineering is taught. Featuring engine test cells, dedicated collaborative learning spaces and all the latest high-tech equipment, it's purpose-built to support a wide range of engineering disciplines.
Students will start their professional journey towards becoming an incorporated or chartered engineer from day one. Students will learn by doing, applying and revisiting their early skills through embedded project weeks and development of digital and physical prototypes, as they would in practice.
Mechanical engineers are sought after for traditional engineering jobs and the product development process. Students will also be in demand to help maximise usage of high capital plants and operations such as power stations, oil refineries and hospitals.
