About 3-Term Pathway - Undergraduate Foundation Program - Humanities and Social Sciences - Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Criminology
At ONCAMPUS Reading, international students are provided with a University Foundation Program tailored to their specific needs. This program equips students who have completed their senior secondary education with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully embark on undergraduate studies at the University of Reading.
Upon completion of the program, with satisfactory academic performance and English language proficiency, students automatically progress to an undergraduate degree at the University of Reading. The University Foundation Program is recognized at National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 3, equivalent to A level standard in the United Kingdom.
Most programs span one academic year, divided into three terms. Each term consists of seven to eight teaching weeks followed by an examination week. Students typically engage in approximately 21 to 25 hours of classroom study per week.
The BSc Criminology degree is particularly suitable for individuals with an interest in law, sociology, politics, and social policy. This program provides a comprehensive understanding of sociological, criminological, and legal concepts, approaches, and methodologies. Students develop a critical perspective on crime, criminal justice, and their relationship with the law. They also gain a solid foundation in social science research methodologies and ethics. Notably, in the 2023 National Student Survey, 90% of students in the School of Law reported that teaching staff effectively communicated complex concepts.
Upon completing the BSc Criminology degree, graduates possess a strong grounding in both the legal framework and the practical challenges surrounding matters of crime and justice.
