Program Description
Art History familiarizes students with a range of developments in the history of art while developing skills in critical thinking, writing, research and the study of visual culture. After a two-semester introduction to the foundations of art and architectural history, students choose from an array of advanced courses on specific topics.
This curriculum concludes with capstone seminars on the methods of art historical scholarship as well as a thesis project. Upper-division classes are small, and Art History faculty are active and respected scholars in the field, pursuing ground-breaking research, and publishing and presenting their scholarship around the world. The curriculum includes a built-in, open studio component, a unique attribute to the CU Denver Art History program.
