About Master of Engineering (Honours) (MEng) - Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (HHH6)

Electromechanical systems play an increasingly central role in today's world. This multidisciplinary field is expected to grow in importance as it addresses the needs of the University of Edinburgh future society. Electromechanical engineers are involved in a wide range of projects, including energy generation, hybrid vehicles, aircraft design, and satellite technology.

The University of Edinburgh specializes in several areas within this field. These include carbon capture, materials science and engineering (including polymers and the mechanics of snow and ice), and engineering at the interface with biology and medicine. The university also has a strong focus on renewable energy, particularly marine energy, which was pioneered by Professor Stephen Salter with his invention of the 'Salter Duck' in the 1970s.
