About Master of Arts (Honours) - History of Art and History of Music (VW33)

The History of Art course introduces students to art from different periods and world cultures. They will have the opportunity to learn about the creation of artworks and the intended audiences. Additionally, students will gain an understanding of how artworks fit into the broader visual and material culture. The course also explores the meanings behind works of art and visual culture, as well as the ongoing interpretations of these works.

Studying Scottish Literature helps students develop critical, analytic, linguistic, and creative skills. By engaging with various literary works, students will enhance their ability to analyze and interpret texts. They will also improve their language proficiency and creative thinking abilities.

The History of Music course provides students with a comprehensive exploration of music from different contexts. This includes examining the aesthetic, cultural, social, and political aspects of music.
