Bachelor of Science - Elementary Education

The Department of Curriculum and Learning, located in the College of Education, provides students with the knowledge they need to obtain the Connecticut Initial Educators Certificate. They advance their knowledge of teaching, curriculum, educational theory, educational supervision, and more, and graduate prepared to meet the challenges facing the ever-evolving field of education.

The Bachelor of Science - Elementary Education is for undergraduate students who wish to become elementary educators. The program prepares them to receive their State of Connecticut teaching certification to teach in grades one through six. There are opportunities throughout the program for them to get real-world experience through field placement observations. The culminating experience is a semester-long student teaching placement in an elementary school. Students also double major in Liberal Studies, which is comprised of two “report-card subjects” such as English and Mathematics.
