Program Description
The Bachelor of Interior Design at Sheridan College offers students practical, hands-on training through various means:
- 2D and 3D computer software, including AUTOCAD, SketchUp, Revit and other design software.
- Project management skills.
- Sustainability and socially responsible practices.
- Building systems and construction knowledge.
The Bachelor of Interior Design program has always kept pace with rising professional standards in the interior design industry. This program is recognized by the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO), and accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA).
The Bachelor of Interior Design at Sheridan College will provide the practical, hands-on training and creative approach that built its reputation on, while also introducing more theoretical and research components. Students will also get a hands-on interior design education, graduating with an applied degree and a set of skills that translate directly to the workplace.
Students will enter the job market with advanced knowledge of AUTOCAD, Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator and other relevant software. As well, students will be prepared to write construction specifications and to read and apply the Ontario Building Code (OBC), along with other relevant codes and legislation. Students will also have a 14-week work placement under their belt, completed at the end of the third year at Sheridan.
Sheridan also organizes annual field trips to New York, plus occasional trips to Chicago and other locations. Students will even have an opportunity to take courses in Italy throughout the Spring/Summer session.
