About Master of Engineering (MEng) - Electrical and Computer Engineering (Coursework)

The objective of the MEng program in Electrical and Computer Engineering is to provide the opportunity for engineers in industry to upgrade and expand their skills, including research skills. Graduates of the program will be able to apply what they have learned in a variety of applications in industry, government and academia.

For the course-based option, students must complete 10 courses worth a total of 30 credits, including four core courses which are required to be taken by all students in a Master of Engineering program.

For the project-based option, students must complete 8 courses worth a total of 24 credits - including four core courses which are required to be taken by all students in a Master of Engineering program - and a project worth 6 credits. The master’s project provides students with the opportunity to integrate and synthesize knowledge gained throughout their program of study. The chosen topic will be dependent on the area of specialization of the student.

All MEng students are admitted to the course-based option. Students may request transfer to the project-based option after at least one term of study, if they find a faculty member who is willing to act as their project supervisor.
