Academic Accelerator - Bachelor of Fine Art - Studio Art

The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a balanced first-year program designed for international students with strong English-language skills. It provides additional support to complement English-taught classes, ensuring students have the necessary resources to succeed.

Students enrolled in the Academic Accelerator Program can expect:

The LSU School of Art offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art with concentrations in ceramics, painting & drawing, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Each concentration includes coursework in art history.

Students in these programs learn to work independently and collaboratively, developing the skills to critique and discuss their own work and that of their peers. They are trained to think critically, solve problems creatively, and communicate effectively. By studying studio art, design, art history, and contemporary art theory, students acquire the skills and knowledge needed to make their artistic practices relevant to current issues.

With a strong foundation in art, technical skills, and conceptual understanding, students can pursue further education in graduate school or embark on careers as independent studio artists or professionals in fields such as film, video, computer graphics, game design, web design, typography, print design, and more. Graduates are prepared to approach their work and lives with creativity and analytical thinking, addressing meaningful issues through their art.
