Business Foundation Year for Progression to International Year One
The new May 2025 International Foundation Year (IFY) in Business is available at Liverpool John Moores University ISC. This pathway enables students to progress to the International Year One (IY1) in Business in January 2026 and then advance to Year 2 of their undergraduate degree by September 2026, allowing them to graduate on time with their peers in 2028.
Bachelor of Arts (Honours) – Human Resource Management
The professionally accredited BA (Hons) Human Resource Management program at Liverpool John Moores University is taught by academics with direct professional experience in HRM roles.
The goal of Human Resource Management (HRM) is to boost organizational morale, reduce staff turnover, and increase productivity. Success in this field requires high levels of interpersonal skills, self-motivation, adaptability, and persuasiveness. For students with these qualities, the HRM degree at LJMU serves as an ideal starting point for launching a successful career.
The course explores the legal aspects of business and employment, business management, and employment relations. It emphasizes case studies and role play to enhance both practical and academic skills. 'Working life' events provide students with first-hand insights into HRM practices, with regular input from industry professionals. The program also includes employer visits to develop students' understanding of business operations and the vital role HR plays in organizational success. Additionally, 'a day in the life of' sessions with current HR managers offer students a comprehensive understanding of the profession.
By graduation, students will have developed high-level leadership and management skills, enabling them to make significant contributions to organizations and their employees.
LJMU supports an HR Community of programs, offering shared events and Master Classes to undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as HR professionals, to encourage networking and the development of professional practice. The HR community maintains a Facebook page, 'LJMU HR students,' where graduating students continue to engage by providing advice and alerting current students to prospective job opportunities.
Liverpool Business School has partnerships with business schools at universities and colleges across Europe, the USA, and China. Students in this program have the opportunity to spend a semester in their second year at a partner university abroad as part of their studies. Additionally, students may choose to spend an additional year of study at one of LJMU’s partner universities between the second and third years. All study abroad opportunities are conducted in English. The Business School also supports various activities at partner universities during summer vacations and offers free language skills courses to students.
