Business Foundation Year for Progression to International Year One

The new May 2025 International Foundation Year (IFY) in Business is available at Liverpool John Moores University ISC. This pathway enables students to progress to the International Year One (IY1) in Business in January 2026 and then advance to Year 2 of their undergraduate degree by September 2026, allowing them to graduate on time with their peers in 2028.

Bachelor of Science (Honours) – Business Management

The Business Management program at Liverpool John Moores University blends contemporary business theory with the practical application of technical business skills.

Students in the Business Management program develop competencies in:

• Digital analytical expertise
• Managing finance with appropriate tools
• Understanding financial markets
• People management
• Development and marketing of products and services
• Planning and project management delivery

The program includes six core modules at Level 4 (first year), which establish essential commercial foundations for a global career in the digital business world. After completing the first year, students can specialize and gain accreditation in their chosen area of expertise.

Students are encouraged to complete an optional year-long work placement in industry between their second and third years of study. This experience enriches their overall learning and significantly enhances employment prospects upon graduation by providing practical work experience that can be leveraged during job applications and interviews.

Business simulation tools are integrated into several core modules to replicate real-world work scenarios. Using various applications, students work in small groups to compete in developing the best business strategies for success, including business growth, market dominance, ethical business practices, and sustainability goals.

Throughout each year of the program, Liverpool John Moores University organizes networking events with course alumni and industry professionals. These events help students develop confidence, refine their communication skills, and expand their professional networks and business contacts.

Leveraging LJMU’s strong business networks across the region, students have the opportunity to act as consultants on live business case projects. These projects may include market research, e-commerce, business growth, project delivery, HR legislation, marketing, or business operations.

Liverpool Business School partners with business schools at universities and colleges across Europe, the USA, and China. Recognizing the importance of cultural enrichment, the School offers students in this program the opportunity to spend a semester during their second year at a partner university abroad as part of their studies. All study abroad opportunities are conducted in English. Additionally, students have access to supported activities at partner universities during summer vacations.
