Events have increasingly become important markers and influencers in individuals’ lives. Whether in sport, the arts, business, or politics, not a day passes without a major event occurring somewhere in the world. The course is taught at The UK Centre for Events Management, which has gained a global reputation for events management education, international research, and alumni support since 1996.
From large-scale events like Glastonbury Festival to intricate product launches, students will develop the skills to plan, promote, and produce events of all sizes, including managing staff and suppliers and complying with licensing requirements. They will also learn how to establish their own events business.
With some prior experience in events, whether through volunteering at a school prom or working in an events environment, students will establish a strong foundation for further study. They will be instructed by highly experienced events practitioners who are all members of the UK Centre for Events Management based at the university.
The applied management course is focused on preparing students for the events industry, with experienced lecturers guiding them along the way. All course modules are tailored to the events industry, ensuring that everything learned has practical applications in their future careers.
Students have the opportunity to participate in a ‘sandwich’ year, a year of paid employment in the industry to enhance their skills and experience. This is typically taken between the second and third year of the degree program, extending the course to four years. Students who opt for the sandwich year often find it beneficial for their studies and post-graduation job search, as it boosts their confidence, networking opportunities, and CV. Leeds Beckett University offers numerous placement opportunities and assists students in finding the most suitable placement.
The university has been awarded a five-star rating for academic work in Hospitality & Leisure Management by QS, the international higher education benchmarking agency.
