3-Term Pathway - Pre-Master's in Social Sciences and Law - Continue to Master of Arts - Sociology

This program will prepare students for entry to a postgraduate degree in a wide range of subjects at Lancaster University, including law, design and a world top 10 linguistics program (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023).

This programme lets students focus on a wide range of contemporary issues in society, such as inequality, racism and capitalism. At the same time, students will focus on developing their critical skills.

Students will be part of ground-breaking research community where some of Lancaster's academics dedicate their time to climate change, while others focus on finding alternatives to social and economic inequalities. The committed and socially engaged experts create a vibrant environment where students will be able to thrive.

To make sure the programme is inclusive and culturally diverse, Lancaster expanded their global focus and are decolonising their curriculum.

Practical project experience

As well as a dissertation, the MA includes a separate module which gives students the opportunity to work in groups on a mini research project. This is a good trial run to develop social research skills in a safe environment while receiving constructive feedback.

Working together with others like this is a great way to experience different approaches and gives students another practical project to refer to in job interviews.
