Digging Deeper

This course starts by asking a vital question – what is philosophy? Students will explore its value, the methods used and debates within the subject. At the same time, the teaching team will discuss their fascinating research on everything from gender to feminist philosophy.

A critical part of this course is completing a dissertation. Students will have 20,000 words to explore an area of philosophy that interests them. Whenever students need support, they’ll be able to turn to their academic supervisor.

The Freedom to Explore

Alongside the core module and dissertation, students will choose from a range of optional modules. They might look at a theoretical topic such as major debates in religious and atheistic thought or an applied area such as mental disorders. Perhaps they’ll pick the independent study module to focus on any topic that sparks their interest.

Graduates' ability to evaluate arguments, assess evidence and think critically will be invaluable to employers. The way students look at problems through a philosophical lens will also give them an edge.
