Specialise in International Law

Studying this course, students will be taught by world-leading experts in this field. Students will zone in on the rules and customs that govern inter-state relationships as they increase their knowledge and understanding of international law. Students will examine how the essential elements are used to shape the world while exploring theory and practice.

Thanks to diverse expertise, students will be able to choose from a wide range of optional modules. What they focus on will depend on their interests – perhaps they want to take a closer look at the United Nations, or maybe they want to understand how terrorism threatens peace, stability and security.

Research is important for progress in law. Students will learn about their latest research from expert academics. Lancaster will also make sure students have all the skills needed to carry out their own research and investigate the issues that matter to them. Different approaches and designs will be looked at, as well as discussing ethics.

Students dissertation will focus on an area that is linked to a legal question or their career interests. Whenever support is needed, students will be able to turn to their supervisor who will guide them through the process and help them confidently carry out their own research from start to finish.
