About 3.5-Term Pathway - Foundation Certificate for Science and Engineering - Transfer to Master of Science - Physics with Astrophysics

Program Description

Build a future by studying in the UK, with a pathway course at Kaplan International College (KIC) London. Situated in the world’s top academic city (QS Best Student Cities 2019), the College will prepare students for a university degree, and for a successful career.

Study at one of the most respected international colleges in London, and progress to one of 8 universities, including the University of Bristol.

The University of Bristol is a highly ranked Russell Group university with a fantastic reputation. Students will join a global community of students from more than 150 countries, and enjoy life in one of the UK’s most exciting cities.

This course gives students a thorough grounding in physics with astrophysics as a key component. It is led by an internationally-renowned astrophysics research group and covers a broad range of contemporary astrophysics.

Study areas include a broad overview of all of modern astrophysics followed by more advanced topics. These could include high-energy astrophysics, galaxy formation and evolution, general relativity and cosmology, and astrophysical fluids and plasmas.

The final-year project will be with a member of the astrophysics research group. The group currently specialises in cosmology, the formation of clusters and galaxies, active galaxies, high-energy astrophysical processes, and the formation of extrasolar planets.

Students will gain the skills needed for astronomical observations and analysis of data from international ground- and space-based observatories on this course, but will also have the opportunity to develop a physicist's broad range of transferable skills. These include problem solving, numeracy, teamwork and the ability to communicate complicated concepts.

Students will join a friendly department with a very active, award-winning student society. This course prepares them for a research career in astrophysics but also provides the flexible career options that a physics degree offers.

The course is accredited by the Institute of Physics.
