About Extended Accelerator Program - Bachelor of Arts - History
The Extended Accelerator Program (EAP) is a three-semester program that includes an immersive English-learning experience. The program gives students firsthand practical and cultural understanding of the Gonzaga University campus and the Spokane area through its contextual curriculum. Upon successful completion of the program, students progress into the second year of their undergraduate education with a full year’s worth of academic credits.
The Department of History offers a variety of courses that enable students to fulfill Gonzaga University Core requirements as well as to obtain a Bachelor of Arts with either a major or a minor in History. The goals of the department curriculum are to engender an informed, critical, and articulate sense of the past, an appreciation for the diversity of human experience, and an awareness of the role of tradition in shaping the present. The major develops a variety of practical research and communication skills and provides a foundation for graduate work, the study of law, public service, teaching, archival and library sciences, public history, and many careers in business and the professions. The department sponsors a chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the international History honor society, and coordinates internships with community partners, Gonzaga University Archives, and Special Collections.
