Program Description
Law is one of the world’s oldest professions. Filled with intrigue and complexities, law is a fascinating and exciting subject area that is an essential component of everyday life. A degree in law can lead students to a wide number of career options, including a lawyer, legal executive or costs negotiator.
Success in this field demands discipline, strategic thinking, a solid knowledge of legislation and the ability to adapt to different scenarios. As legal knowledge is key for success in this career, this course focuses on teaching students key theoretical principles and fundamental best practices such as how to make succinct legal arguments.
This course offers students the option to undertake a Professional Placement Year or Study Abroad Year. If they wish to do so, students can opt to take the Professional Placement Year module or the Study Abroad Year module which both typically run for a full academic year between years 2 and 3 of the course. Students are able to progress onto the relevant module if they have successfully completed the first two years of the course (i.e. having accumulated 240 credits) and provided that they confirm their interest in undertaking this option before the end of second year, typically in August.
While the Professional Placement Year and Study Abroad Year modules students undertake are non-credit bearing but do not incur any additional tuition fees, if successfully completed, these modules will appear on their final academic transcript. In addition, if they complete this year, they will also gain an enhanced degree award title as the additional suffix of “With Professional Enhancement” if they've gone on a work placement and “With International Enhancement” if they've gone on a study abroad program will be added ( subject to relevant assessments) .
The Talent Team can provide students with a wide range of support services in order to help them apply for a placement opportunity. Past students have worked with Jaguar Land Rover, the Bugatti Trust and Imagination. Several students have had internships in London, Birmingham, Amsterdam, Berlin, Stuttgart and Bologna.
Please note that placement or study abroad opportunities are not guaranteed and that any such opportunities referred to on this webpage may be subject to additional costs (e.g. travel, visas and accommodation etc.), competitive application, availability and/or meeting any applicable visa requirements.
